“goodbye Dover Road”
“Home is where one starts from.”
—T.S. Eliot
A closing to a chapter. Wow. This feels kind of surreal. We’ve been keeping this one under our belt. its that classic thing when you’re going through real big shifts, sometimes it’s easier to keep your head down and focus in on the task. And since we made the biggest decision to welcome in our biggest lifestyle change yet, we had to let this one marinate until the time came to share it on here with you all.
We’re moving!! but not into a house this time, we are hitting the road!! (Jack). This has been a dream of ours since we met almost 6 years ago, and a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. Pretty stoked our dreams line up like that. And now as three, we are so thrilled to be living out our best lives immersed into nature, exploring country and sleeping under the stars daily.
It seems pretty wild, most encounters we’ve had with friendly strangers whilst selling all our belongings and getting road ready seems to bring up the topic of bravery, doing this with a little one, and to us it couldn’t make more sense?! our sweet Ariah loves nature, all kids do. We are nature, we thrive in it. It’s simple and rewarding and brings us back to the basics. Brings us back to ourselves and what’s truly important.
Like all of us, we need a sense of sercurity and support but it’s crazy to think I’ve grow up thinking that’s linked to physical objects or “things”. Changing the script and reminding ourselves that we find it within each other, ourselves, family, warm fires, nourishing meals and more time together, than apart. It has taken many moments to lead us to this, paradigm shifts in the financial realm and trusting in on what is it that the heart reeeeeally wants to do. This topic is a big one as it’s been months in the process, preparing mentally and physically so I feel like I got so much to share. But I’m going to try and keep it simple.
Houseless not homeless. I’m jumping for joy over here for the journey that awaits and all that we will find in the in between. I’m falling into the unknown but it simultaneously feels like I’m flying. We don’t know exactly where we will end up and that’s the most exciting part. I think it’s better to take a risk than to be always wondering. And I rather be young with my young than living a life of regret. So here’s to new beginnings and a never ending adventure as three.
Our home? A 2004 Toyota Hilux 4x4 Dual Cab named Gypsy. Feels only fair to take a trip down memory lane. We call her our first baby. And she was just a shell those many moons ago in Cairns. With lots of different set ups this one’s by far our favourite. A trusty turtle, (she slow) a gypsy turtle. Cute. Wearing our home on our backs. It’s all we need and we are all we need.
Endless amounts of energy, hours, creative downloads and craftsmanship has gone into this baby, and marketplace - our dear friend. So many second hand goodies. And sooooo many great ideas, hardwork and knowledge, from Blakey and with his incredible tinkering talents, making her ready for life on the road. I love this man. And his fuel to learn, create and imagine outside of the norm.
Our dear friends, we’ll be staying with family around north Brisbane till the end of November and would love to chill and make some sweet memories before we make voyage! And to the friends on here, livin’ across the country, we would absolutely love to connect with you on our adventure. We will be slooooowly heading to Tasmania / lutruwita, so hit us up if you have any recommendations of places to see or just want to hang out!
To be continued…
Big love
